There is no fully effective way to treat a common cold. If you do not have any other disease apart from the cold and it disappears in a week or two, there is a clear need to see a doctor. As the cold is caused by a virus, antibiotics are not useful to cure, but may be needed to prevent superinfection by other microbes, including bacteria.

- No need to reduce daily activities, but typically the person gets tired more easily.

Normally it is not likely to have to consult a doctor, but you have to go to consultation in the following cases:

- If patients are older and if they have a chronic illness, especially respiratory.

- If after 3 or 4 days there has been no improvement.

A cold or a cold is a contagious viral disease that causes inflammation of the airways, especially the nose and throat. There are over one hundred different viruses that can cause a cold.

This is usually a mild illness, recovery occurs in about a week at most. Sometimes the symptoms match those of other diseases such as influenza, but it is important to know that flu is a disease of well-defined characteristics, and all cold, is not the flu, although influenza usually occur with a cold. The most characteristic symptom is a runny nose cold or runny nose.
